About Gia

Gia

I’ve spent most of my childhood surrounded by  precious fabrics, I’ve watched fascinated in my parents workshop how a dress for a future bride was created, and I’m probably one of the few 14 years old girls who had the chance to try on a wedding dress.

I didn’t choose my job, it chose me.

At the age of 10 I was already sketching my own dresses and playing with the sewing machines, and at  20 I’ve started designing wedding dresses and working with brides in my parents shop (while I was studying finance  at the Academy of Economic Studies 🙂 ).

It’s a very rewarding job. You get the chance to make women very happy (and we all know that’s not easy to do 🙂 ), and it’s a great gift to be able to make them shed tears of pure joy when they see themselves as brides. It’s a special moment in a woman’s life and I am thankful to have been able to be a part of that.

I’ve been a designer, stylist and a marketer for 10 years. I  started with wedding dresses and accessories, and later added evening dresses (under the GIYA brand)  to the collection. Our brands were Tudor Collection (named after my father), and later Spose di Gia (Bucharest, Romania).

You can see some of my work here:

At the age of 30 I became a mom and it changed my life and my way of thinking. I’ve stopped designing dresses and concentrated on shoe clips & statement necklaces (SASHaccessories).

But I guess in time I’ve realized that I’m missing “the stylist” part of my  job, the interaction with my clients, the “talk”….and so, at 31, with the experience I gathered in all these years, I started a new journey, and I’m inviting you to  “walk” with me.

The goal of “theUrbanDiva” blog is to become a source of inspiration for you, to help you make the best choices when it comes to fashion, style, your home, body and mind.

I want to share with you my experience as a designer and give the brides everywhere a friend with the right answers that understands maybe more than anyone what their dress and their wedding means for them…

My goal is also to promote the Romanian designers (in all areas),

because I strongly believe in their talent. So, if you are a designer and want to share  your work, please send me pictures and if I believe in you, I will let everyone know of how talented you are.

Welcome to my blog & my journey through life!
