The thing that I love most about fashion it’s its power: to change opinions and moods, to influence how people see you or how you see yourself and most importantly, to influence how you feel inside.
It’s true that, in essence, they’re just clothes, but these simple clothes, chosen wisely and mixed in a certain way, can make a homeless look like a queen :), or even better, can actually change someone’s mood. Otherwise, how could you explain the nervousness you feel when you don’t like anything you see in your closet, when your favorite dress is broken, when you’ve just stained with coffee that skirt that makes you feel sensational. On the other hand, I’m sure you recognize that feeling of pure happiness when you look in the mirror and you love what you see, when you stop seeing your flaws, when you know you will make heads turn, when you can literally feel your confidence boosting inside. You suddenly walk taller and feel better, isn’t it?
So, what can we wear when we feel in a bad mood…
- A colorful dress, like the one I’m wearing in today’s photos. We already know that colors can influence our mood so why not use them?! It’s the mix of colors with that print that makes me feel good instantly. A little girlish, a little funny and very versatile.
- The outfit that you love the most from your wardrobe, that you know for sure it will make you feel good about yourself. If you don’t have one by now, make one. 🙂 You must have one or more power outfits in your wardrobe. Play a little dress up one day and set up these power outfits. Every time you’re in a bad mood, pull the power outfit from your closet and go conquer the world with a smile on your face.
Getting a little bit back to my outfit of choice for this post, beside the colors and the cuteness, this dress is also very versatile. It can be worn with a belt or without – changing the entire structure, it has pockets (I love dresses with pockets) and can be taken out for a date, a party, a baptise, even a wedding if it’s not a formal one, dinner with friends, a movie, etc. It all depends on what you put next to it. For events, wear it with high heel shoes, for a more casual feeling add flats or even sporty shoes. It’s perfect for summer but you can easily add a leather jacket, a classic trench or a textured cardigan (like the one I used here) for those colder autumn days.
In the end, 3 things I want you to remember: get some colorful items, set up some power outfits, and always buy versatile clothes.
